I was raised in a country town in New South Wales, where I developed a strong work ethic, practical values, and an appreciation for genuine relationships—qualities that continue to shape both my business and leadership style today.

My journey in construction began in 1996 as an apprentice carpenter, learning the trade from the ground up under the mentorship of a hands-on builder who taught me every stage of construction—from setting out and framing through to the final finishing touches. That early experience gave me something far greater than trade skills—it gave me a deep respect for craftsmanship, accountability, and what it truly means to build with pride.

Driven by a desire to challenge myself and expand my opportunities, I left the comfort of a small country town and moved to Sydney, where I stepped into the commercial construction sector with Quasar Constructions. Working as a Construction Foreman, I began developing my leadership skills while gaining exposure to larger-scale commercial projects and more complex construction environments.

Wanting to continue pushing my limits, I later moved into a General Foreman role with Laing O'Rourke, where I further developed my capabilities in large-scale project supervision, team leadership, systems, and delivering outcomes under pressure. These opportunities also brought me to Brisbane, where I had the privilege of delivering several major projects, meeting my wife, and beginning the next chapter of my life by starting a family.

In 2011, I made one of the biggest decisions of my career—leaving the security of a successful corporate construction career to build something of my own. That decision led to the creation of RJM Builders, where I have spent the past 15 years building quality homes, delivering commercial projects, and helping clients bring their vision to life.

Throughout that journey, I began to see a major gap in our industry. There were talented tradespeople, business owners, and emerging builders who had the skill, drive, and ambition to grow—but lacked supervision evidence support, licensing guidance, and real-world mentoring needed to take the next step into next licensing categories.

That is why I founded Builders Helping Builders.

Builders Helping Builders was created to provide something I believe our industry desperately needs—real support from someone who has walked the path. Not theory. Not generic coaching. But hands-on, practical mentorship backed by decades of real construction experience across residential, commercial, leadership, business ownership, and licensing pathways.

Today, my mission is simple: to help emerging builders, trade business owners, and existing construction businesses bridge the licensing and experience gaps, secure bigger opportunities, and build businesses they are proud of—while creating a stronger construction industry for the next generation.
